„HOT STUFF"

Gemstone design had first priority. Accepted were unmounted gemstones, gemstones in finished jewellery, gemstone objects and gemstone sculptures. The use of synthetic stones was allowed.

   1. PRICE: MONIQUE ABELN
IDAR-OBERSTEIN, CERTIFICATE AND 1500 EURO

Gemstone object made of lava, fire opal, blackened citrine and silver

The jury unanimously agreed that this puristic gem with its somewhat archaic impression, made of rough, porous lava rock combined with an elongated fire opal of almost diabolic glow embedded in the rock is the best entry of this year’s young talents competition. The jury particularly praised the contrast between the dark solidified lava rock and the liquid, virtually animated, continuously flowing blazing stream of lava which create an overall impression full of suspense.
