THEME OF THE COMPETITION:

„LIGHT MY FIRE“

Gemstone design had first priority. Accepted were unmounted gemstones, gemstones in finished jewellery (in this case only precious metals were allowed), gemstone objects and gemstone sculptures. The use of synthetic gems was not admitted.

This magnificent gemstone which, as an object on its own, is highly impressive, but could also be the centrepiece of a spectacular jewel, is the best entry of this year’s main competition. This is an example of perfect craftsmanship, using the refraction of light in a most effective way. This gemstone is cut as a single, large flame. If one tilts the stone, one can see many more small flickering flames inside.
