Jewellery- & Gemstone Prize

The competition

"Gemstone jewellery in gold and silver" was the motto of the first German Jewellery and Gemstone Prize, in 1970. The German Young Talent Competition underwent its baptism of fire in 1989. With these two competitions the Bundesverband der Edelstein- und Diamantindustrie e. V. (Federal Association of the Precious Stones and Diamond Industry) aims to raise the awareness of jewellery and gemstones amongst a broader audience. Alternating from year to year, the focus is either upon "jewellery workmanship in association with gemstones" or "gemstone workmanship".

The Federal Association of the Precious Stones and Diamond Industry places great emphasis on a high-quality, international jury, comprising from five to seven jurors from a variety of different fields. The generous prize money represents a further incentive for all participants to take part in the competition.

It is intended that not only aesthetic and promising pieces are submitted, but also work that follows new directions and lends new impulses to the development of jewellery and gemstone design.

Held in Idar-Oberstein, the jewellery and gemstone competitions number amongst the leading international competitions in the trade – and participants are drawn from all around the world. For the sector as a whole the competitions represent a unique showpiece, whilst at the same time functioning as a superb advertisement with international alignment.

The registration documents and terms of the competition can be obtained from the Bundesverband each year from March onwards. Please use the contact form provided.
